Community Safety
As a dad, Tony will never play politics with your safety. That's why he supports fully funding law enforcement, and passing commonsense gun safety laws to keep weapons out of violent criminals hands.
As a father, I will never play politics with people’s safety. That’s why I’ve voted to increase law enforcement funding by $37 million a year and have fought for common sense gun safety laws to ensure violent criminals, domestic abusers, and the mentally ill do not have access to dangerous weapons.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community, in their classroom, and in their home. I support the 2nd Amendment but believe in common sense gun reform to protect our community. Washington politicians like Don Bacon have spent years trying to divide Americans on this issue, when the vast majority of us actually agree that it’s possible to pass common sense measures that respect constitutional rights.
In Congress, I will work to pass legislation to keep everyone in our community safe. We need universal background checks on gun purchases to prevent criminals from buying guns illegally, red flag laws to keep guns out of domestic abusers’ hands, and an assault weapons ban which was proven to reduce gun deaths in the United States.
We must have action on this issue. Too many children are dying in their classrooms and people are scared to go to concerts or festivals worried they will be the next victims. We don’t have to live in fear. Policymakers must take action and that is exactly what I will work to do in Congress.
